The Birthday Girl

On Sunday it was Maddi's 4th birthday. Maddi has been so excited for her birthday to come and thought of what cake she was going to have just after her 3rd birthday. Whenever we would be out in public people would ask her how old she was. Maddi would all of a sudden remember her birthday was coming (many months away) and say " I'm having a birthday soon, and I'm having a rainbow cake!" and would totally dismiss the original question.

We went to Launceston on Saturday and met up and had lunch with Moppy and Poppy. Moppy and Poppy gave Maddi some lovely presents and afterwards we went and had a look at the fairy shop nearby. Then we went to the mall and Maddi picked out a present for herself. We also went to the Hawks Super Saturday afternoon and met up with the Kings.

Maddi got a guernsey and got it signed by Jarryd Roughead, her favourite player. She then told us in the car that Jarryd Roughead knows her name. We asked her why she thought that, and she replied, "because he wrote my name on my guernsey." Below are some photos of Maddi with Jarryd Roughead taken back in February.

On the morning of her birthday Maddi was very excited to have Fruit Loops for breakfast and her big present which was awaiting in the loungeroom- A Casio Keyboard that holds some sentimental value to the family. It was Alex's Grandmother's and has been handed down to us from Georgina. Maddi was very excited to play it. We are now looking into finding her a good piano teacher.

Maddi was dissapointed that we didn't have a big party for her as she wanted all her cousins to come, but suggested that we could share her cake with her primary class. We took along Maddi's rainbow cake along to church to share with her primary class. We ended up sharing it with anyone who wanted a piece. I must say that the cake tasted "Smokin", but that's a whole other story!

Grandma and Grandpa were our special guests for tea and Maddi requested to have fried rice and seafood for tea. We had prawns and fried rice with Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma made a delicious pavlova for dessert and we had a vanilla baked cheesecake also. Grandma was very kind to let me borrow her camera until mine is fixed. The photos below are much better now with Grandma's camera than the above ones that show the lens shade.

Maddi had a great day and says she loves being 4. She loved all the phonecalls she got during the day and loved telling everyone about all the presents she got.

Becc's Shower

On Easter Monday we had a breakfast shower for Becc. Becc is due to have a baby boy in two weeks time and is all ready for the baby to arrive.

It was a beautiful morning and it was perfect for the party to be out on the deck, only there was a swarm of wasps nearby that made us resort to eating inside.

There was so much yummy food.

Some people painted some cute little onesies.

Maddi loved this activity as she loves art and craft.

While the shower was on the boys went and played footy at the school. Little Alex enjoyed spending time with Tia who is 5 months younger than Alex.

We can't wait to meet our new cousin and nephew.

Easter 2010

On Good Friday we had brunch at Mum and Dad's house. It's the second year in a row that we have had a family brunch on Good Friday. Little Alex and Maddi stayed the night at Mum and Dad's house the night before, and had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa. Alex and I were very appreciative of Mum and Dad for taking them. It's often the simple things in life that we appreciate and take for granted. We found out what a treat it was to eat in front of the TV, and enjoyed having a peaceful and tidy home, and slept-in for an extra hour or so. We also came to realise how much we missed them too, especially when we walked past their bedroom and saw their empty beds.

After brunch the Easter Bunny paid a visit and the kids went on an egg hunt.

Little Alex did very well on his hunt and found stacks of eggs. All was well and good until we brought our collection together and shared them out. Hopefully next year he'll be able to handle sharing a little better.

Grandma and Grandpa got all the Grandkids an Easter present each. Little Alex and Maddi loved their presents. Soon after we headed to Hobart to Moppy and Poppy's for the rest of Easter. Georgina and Damien were down for the weekend so it was nice to have everyone there for the weekend.

On Saturday it was Ness' 21st birthday. Ness had a party in the evening with a black and white theme. The party was held outside on Moppy and Poppy's deck and underneath the deck. Maddi stayed up till the party finished at midnight and was in good spirits the whole night. She danced most of the night and socialised with Ness' guests. Little Alex wanted to go to bed at 10.30pm which surprised us. I didn't manage to get any photos of the night, but it was a really good night with some great costumes.

On Easter Sunday Easter Bunny was very generous and paid another visit at Moppy and Poppy's house. The kids found lots of eggs out in Moppy and Poppy's yard. Little Alex did exactly what we thought he was going to do- Get upset about sharing the eggs again!

The rest of the day Little Alex was overtired from the night before. We couldn't believe it when we traveled to church in the afternoon-There was a plane crash on the Brooker Highway. It raised a lot of questions from Maddi about the accident. She is still asking about it!

That night we went to Becc and Brise's for tea. Becc and Brise cooked a lovely tea for everyone. We had a lovely and busy weekend.

Life with "Mr Linc"

Life has got a lot busier since "Mr Linc" arrived, hence why there such few blogs of late! Mainly because a certain two year old keeps us very busy and on our toes. I am attepmting to blog now while he (Little Alex) is asleep in the car which rarely happens. There is never a dull moment in our house.

Lincoln is 12 weeks old now and quite a social baby already who interacts with anyone that pays him attention. Still waiting for him to become a better sleeper. He's not too bad, but not a deep sleeper. At the moment he is waking two to three times in the night which I am hoping will change. The trouble with having a great first-born child (at sleeping) is you expect all your children to be the same. Maddi was an excellent sleeper at this age and was sleeping 12 hours a night by three months old. Little Alex still wakes in the night. It goes to show you that they're all different.

I am amazed at how much washing there is now with one extra little person. Linc sits in his Bumbo while the washing is being folded and the ironing is being done. It's the safest place for him as Little Alex is so boisterous.

Little Alex attempting to elevate himself up to his little Brother. Little Alex loves to climb. The other week at church he had a flexible sticky toy that managed to get stuck on the roof of the cultural hall, of all places! Little Alex started stacking chairs with a few older kids to get his toy down!

I think these ones are funny one as Lincoln looks really cheeky as he is happily looking down on his brother, and knows he is safe!

Lincoln loves his siblings.

Maddi is so good with him. She talks to him all the time and is really responsible with him. She gave him the name "Mr Linc". She is so calm with him and doesn't panic when he is upset.

Little Alex loves getting out in the yard and digging. He's always so busy with his hands.
