First day of Kindergarten

Today was Maddi's first day of Kindergarten. She was very excited, and had no troubles at all with the transition. She remarked that she was a little higher than yesterday, because she was a school girl.

Maddi is very confident and independant. She was ready for school a long time ago. She loves to socialise, do art and craft, and write letters. She can count to 60, write her name and is starting to figure out what letters are in words. It won't be long until she is reading.

The rest of the family was more affected with the change than Maddi. Little Alex said a few hours before, "you're leaving me Maddi." Maddi said "don't worry Alex, I'll see you at 3 o'clock!" It's definitely a new chapter in our lives.

I love that we can walk to school and it is a flat 15 minute walk. We were very keen and got there a little early.

Maddi met her nice teacher and her teacher was very glad to hear that her surname was not Watso, like it read on all of the class lists! Not sure how that error happened. Maddi took her 'memory bag' along with photos and collections of things that she did over the holidays.

We stayed for about 15 minutes, and I had to tell Maddi to say goodbye to her brothers before we left, as she was so absorbed in playing. It was hard to drag Little Alex away and he made a fuss when we left. He wanted to stay and continue to play with some of the boys in Maddi's class.

When we picked Maddi up later, she said she had a great day. She came home very hungry, and said she wanted to have a little rest when she got home. She asked if she could do some craft. I thought school was going to give her art and craft fix! She goes to school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so she was dissapointed that she won't get to go again until next week.

Tangled

The other day Maddi had some 'girl time' and went to see Tangled in 3D with Grandma and Kelsea. She had a great time eating popcorn during the movie. Maddi is very involved in the snack side of things during a movie. The boys and I had a quiet couple of hours while Maddi was at her movie.

In the afternoon we went to a Hawks community event at the sports centre. The kids went on the jumping castle several times and had a great time. As soon as they had a turn they would line up again for another round. You can see them lined up at the back.
